Our Purpose
Our Commitment to Children
We believe childhood is a unique and treasured time that should be celebrated, valued, and enjoyed. At the heart of Hobartville Long Day Preschool is a kind, warm, and cooperative community made up of qualified, experienced educators, children, families, and carers—all integral to our story.
We see children as capable, curious, and active participants in their own learning. We foster a nurturing environment that inspires imagination, creativity, exploration, risk-taking, and joy. Our curriculum is shaped by children’s voices, interests, and perspectives, guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and its principles of Belonging, Being and Becoming. Through open-ended play and discovery, we empower children to grow with confidence, independence, and a strong sense of self.
Our Educators
We view educators as co-learners, co-researchers, and co-imaginers alongside children. We value shared reflection, collaborative inquiry, and the power of meaningful relationships to inspire growth.
Our educators are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child feels respected, protected, and heard. This commitment is embedded in our Statement of Commitment to Child Safety, which guides our practices and upholds the highest standards of child safety and wellbeing.
Our practice is grounded in play-based learning and driven by intentional teaching. We uphold the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, championing each child’s right to be heard, respected, and nurtured.
We encourage environmental sustainability and support children in becoming thoughtful, responsible caretakers of the world around them. Our team promotes sustainable practices that honour and protect our environment for future generations.
Our Commitment to Families and Community
Families are children’s first and most influential teachers. We deeply value strong, respectful, and honest partnerships with families and celebrate their diversity and contributions. With an active parent committee, our families play a vital role in shaping the direction and values of our preschool.
We believe in the power of community to enrich learning and identity. By connecting children with their local surroundings and people, we support a strong sense of belonging and place. Our preschool has built lasting relationships with local organisations, schools, and businesses—connections that are woven into the fabric of our daily program. We bring the richness of our neighbourhood into the lives of our children. These meaningful ties nurture not only children’s understanding of the world around them, but also their role within it—as active, thoughtful, and contributing members of a wider community.
We proudly acknowledge and respect the cultures, histories, and ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We work towards reconciliation in our daily practices, supported by our ongoing reflection in our Reconciliation Action Plan.
