Gumnut Room
Our program for the 6 weeks to 3 years’ focuses on preparing the children to reach developmental milestones and specifically focuses on language and social skills. We strive to provide routines for our children that are consistent with home, which is why the environment has been specifically designed with both infants and families in mind.
Our environment consists of:
- A large nappy changing area and separate bathroom with 3 small toilets and hand basins to assist those children who are ready to transition to toilet training.
- A cot room for younger babies (6 weeks – 24 months) with 7 wooden cots and 1 emergency cot. All bed linen is provided and washed regularly at the service. The cot room contains a temperature gauge, air conditioner and air purifier. Older children sleep on little beds that are close to the ground in the play room which transitions to a sleeping room after lunch.
- A large play room that is divided into smaller learning stations to foster play based learning and inquiry.
- Both separated and connected backyard spaces where babies and toddlers are provided with opportunities to play with older children, their siblings, and cousins throughout the day as well as a separate playground where children have the chance to play at their own level and pace without older children around
Once a child reaches three years old and is considered ready and if a vacancy exists, the child is transferred to the Blinky Bill room. A transition period is organised and in consultation with families, a decision will be made.
